It might also be your horrible gas mileage. I drive more but spend less, despite living in a country where gasoline is still over $6 a gallon (US). Not that my car runs on gasoline, but that’s not the point.

I’m running about 500 miles a week. I gots you beat! :D

Also paying for premium at 24-25mpg. Sucks ass.

Lol. I average about 1200 a month going to and from work alone. My average MPG in the Jeep is 11. Recently, my average cost per gallon is about $3.30 (doing the math in my head).

Thats $360 getting to and from work...

You should buy a prius, then you can afford a project car

It's no prius, but ya; you would've expected worse

While true, it’s still a cause for high costs. If those costs become prohibitive it can easily be remedied by driving a more economical car.

Your not gonna find any pick up trucks of this era that will give you the MPG of a civic. If a truck is what you need, a non-truck is a non-option.

Your only real option is to consider a diesel truck instead, but none of those in the US are going to be small.

hey no one forced you to buy a car that uses premium :)

Man we should suggested people who complain about having to use premium instead of hummers, landrovers and dude look at me i own a ferrari.

I’ve always put premium in my stuff except the Pilot. It does not deserve premium. My only issue is the mileage I’m seeing. I used to get around 27 or 28, so I need to track down what my issues are.

Funny, I'm averaging 23.5 US MPG over the last couple months and 19.7 overall with 2 more cylinders. Mind you they are much newer cylinders.

Kinja'd!!! Party-vi > Wacko

No my foot has kept the same leadiness as previous. It’s probably my Pilot Sport A/S3 tires (previous were low roll resistance Primacy tires) and new spark plugs/air filter being needed soon. Plugs have been in it for 50k miles.

I’m bothered my light lighter car with .8 liters less displacement that is driven mostly highway is only averaging 18.something and your truck getting nearly that much.

I love gas cubby....mainly because statistics and car fluctuations have always interested me. Here’s mine since I got my C250 almost 2 months ago:

Also...my bad on the sideways phone snap thing. Can't fix it right now.

I told myself when I started my job that I would never price any of this out.

500 miles a week, 15-17 mpg on standard unleaded.

Kinja'd!!! for Michigan > Denver Is Stuck In The 90s
09/08/2015 at 14:38

Kinja'd!!!0

I average around 450 miles/week. Used to be at 28 MPG on the Civic, but the Mazda only hit 24 MPG on its first tank.

So I’m spending about $200/month on gas, but I get reimbursed 25¢/mile at work, which is $500/month.

Which means $300/month for “maintenance”! Looks like I might be getting that catback exhaust sooner than I thought.

You got it easy, I’m at a normal 640/week just for work, usually another 40ish for around-town crap. 940 last week tho.

I do get 28ish mpg if I really keep my foot out of it though. Still premium.
